Boris Smirnov is a long-time web professional. He has been designing, administering, and implementing web projects late 90s. He has worked for state and private educational and not-for-profit organizations as well as small and large companies. He’s built ecommerce sites for artists, helped engineer and implement enterprise web interfaces and solutions for corporations and small companies, and juggled web architectures from php to ASP.Net.

Boris is a strong believer in open source software, and importance of empowering internal and external users by building solutions that are flexible enough to adjust and adapt with the times and as the new software and technologies become available. He is able to work fast to meet a deadline as well as being able to take time and engineer solution that will stand a test of time.

Boris started as a visual artist and designer with a passion for technology but after having built a few websites for fun he was noticed and provided a work opportunity in web field. He has been at it since then. His professional work on the web started at a state institution where a lot of emphasis was made on accessibility and usability of the website. This created constraints that favorably influenced his want to build effective websites with focus user experience.

Boris discovered Drupal in 2005 while working for a private school and investigating different CMSs to use in that environment. Having discovered a perfect framework for his needs as designer, developer and information architect for personal and commercial project he has been working with Drupal since.

In his spare time, Boris enjoys photography, arts spending times with his family and watching good movies. He loves learning new things and finding parallels between different disciplines.
